From 23 to 27 March 2026, the University of Zielona Góra will host an international intensive educational programme entitled Interference Patterns: Science and Culture in Dialogue. The project is interdisciplinary in nature and focuses on the relationships between science, technology, and culture. It integrates perspectives from physics and mathematics with the social sciences, the humanities, art, and music, demonstrating how scientific ideas shape culture and how culture interprets and develops scientific thought.

The programme will involve students and academic staff from partner institutions abroad, including participants from Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Turkey, and Vietnam.
The project is implemented with the involvement of academic staff from various units of the University of Zielona Góra, with a leading role played by the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Sociology, in cooperation with the Institutes of Astronomy, Polish Philology, Philosophy, History, Mathematics, Music, and the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Nutrition.

The programme includes lectures and seminars delivered by representatives of diverse disciplines, thematic workshops, interdisciplinary team-based project work, field activities combining scientific and artistic reflection, and a final symposium presenting the outcomes of participants’ work. It is addressed to students and early-career researchers interested in interdisciplinary collaboration, the development of communication competences, and a critical reflection on the role of science and technology in the contemporary world.

The event forms part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the University of Zielona Góra.
